The children at RO Academy in Kenya were so delighted by the generous donation of kit from Harvesters, they created a thank you film! We are attaching it here.
RO is a Football Club formed in 2019 and has a growing membership of over 70 children from 4 - 17 years. The Academy is run by CEO Ronald Okoth, an ex Kenyan Premier League striker who played for Sofapaka, among other teams. The Academy has a wider role as a community development initiative and is a key support to the welfare of children and their families; children travel for up to 2 hours on public transport to attend the training and matches.
Since their inception the Club has gone from strength to strength, training and playing at the Dr Livingston Primary School in Nairobi. The facilities are very much grassroots but with the help of a small skilled team of volunteers children are engaging with football. Recent results have been excellent with increasingly more kids joining the club and learning to play the RO way. So we will find a way to distribute the many kits that you provided!
After we gave them the kit the children started to take an interest in Harvesters! The Harvesters fan club now extends to Nairobi!! To that end I'm cc-ing Dr. Mel Platis who is the COO of the Academy here and works in community development in Kenya and the UK. Mel is excited to connect with Harvesters and hopes to build a relationship going forward.
Thanks so much again from the RO Family in Nairobi!
